Lantronix Rallies Around Digital Classroom with Launch of Print and Learn (PAL) Program
National Parent Teacher Organization Endorses PAL Program; Helps Schools and Universities Get the Most Out of Mobile Devices
Irvine, Calif. – August 27, 2014 – To support the growing adoption of mobile technology in education, Lantronix, Inc. (NASDAQ: LTRX), a leading global provider of smart IoT (Internet of Things) solutions, today launched its Print and Learn (PAL) Program. Designed to help schools and universities optimize their investment in today’s digital classrooms, PAL closes the loop on the missing link for students and teachers who need to print from their tablets, smartphones, Chromebooks, and other mobile devices.
With a mission to complement school programs to foster student achievement, the National Parent Teacher Organization(PTO) has joined PAL as an official sponsor. PAL is designed to help schools maximize their existing resources to provide students with the tools they need to be successful in the digital environment. The program consists of product discounts, idea sharing on social media, professional services, and a year-long photo contest. It is applicable to K-12 and higher education institutions, PTO members, students, parents, faculty and administrators.
“Technology-based instruction is an essential component of effectively preparing students for the future,” said Tina Riccio, classroom consultant for the Parent Teacher Organization. “It’s crucial to have leaders in technology step up and support educational endeavors. We applaud Lantronix for creating the PAL Program and taking an active role to deliver tangible benefits to the emerging digital classroom. Our organization is happy to be an inaugural official sponsor.”
It may seem counter to the notion of going digital, but the digital classroom with its tablets, netbooks and other devices creates an undeniable need for paper. In fact, there remains a strong need for students and teachers to be able to print a variety of items – from homework to tests to lesson plans.  But printing from mobile devices can be a challenge – with software downloads and kludgy apps that may or may not be effective. Moreover, with the bulk of technology purchases going towards tablets and Chromebooks, many schools do not have the resources to spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy new printers with built-in mobile printing capabilities.
“Lantronix has been a long-time partner to the education market, providing many IT solutions over the years,” said Kurt Busch, Lantronix president and CEO. “With the increasing adoption of tablets and other mobile devices in the classroom, it is clear that schools need a simple and cost-effective mobile printing solution. Supporting our education institutions and promoting meaningful digital integration into the classroom is something we believe in, and we’re happy that we can play a role to ease the transition to the digital classroom.”
