Product Line Manager

The Product Line Manager is responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, to deliver winning products. It includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The PLMs job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals.

The Product Line Manager is expected to:

  • Act as the leader and primary spokesperson for the product line
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap
  • Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition
  • Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
  • Perform product demos to customers

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager
  • 10+ years in the embedded software, semiconductor, Enterprise Networking or M2M/IoT Platforms area
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Computer Science, MBA preferred

As a member of the product development team, you will develop and enhance software and firmware for our industry leading embedded and external Device Enablement and ITM products. Our platforms are at the forefront of driving IoT connectivity with intelligent device services that enable our customers to access remote device data within the enterprise.

  • Gather and finalize software requirements based on product requirements.
  • Architect systems, understand, analyze and modify existing subsystems and work with large bodies of software code.
  • Manage entire life cycle, including enhancements, updates, and reconfigurations for assigned products
  • Produce high quality code that conforms to the design and functional requirements. Use command line tools and IDE for design and debugging.
  • Develop validation plans and execute them to ensure that code is fully unit tested before submitting to Product Assurance Testing.
  • Provide support to other Engineers, Field Application Engineers/Technical Support staff in areas of expertise and domain knowledge.

Skills and Competencies

  • BSEE/BSCS or equivalent, MSEE/MSCS a plus.
  • 10+ years of practical experience in embedded product development for networking equipment (wired or wireless), M2M technology or equivalent.
  • Requires strong C/C++ programming experience and good understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Bash
  • Experience with containerized systems (Docker, Vagrant, Virtual Box and VMWare)
  • Demonstrated experience in TCP/IP protocols (Sockets, IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, ICMP, QOS, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of multi-threaded embedded application software including but not limited to network protocol stacks and implementing communication systems from the ground up.
  • Experience in “leading” the development and release of embedded software products is highly desirable.
  • Experience in at least one embedded Linux distribution is needed (Commercial – MontaVista Linux, Wind River Linux, Timesys Linux or Open Source – buildroot, OpenEmbedded, uClinux).
  • Experience in building a Linux system from scratch
  • Experience with the complete software lifecycle process
  • Ability to architect an embedded networking product software
  • Working with git, cvs and makefile within a Linux development environment will prove very useful
  • Specific experience with the following tool sets / products is extremely beneficial:  SQL, Serial Drivers, ARM processors, USB and PC Card drivers
  • Protocol Stack knowledge for one or more wireless technologies: 802.11, 2G, 3G, and/or 4G is desirable.
  • Knowledge of cloud services, such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS S3/CloudFront/EC2 is a plus
  • Experience as a technical lead is a plus.

The Regional Sales Manager will manage and lead sales activities for Lantronix to End User, Value Added Reseller (VAR), and distributor accounts within the defined territory above.   The position is responsible for the development of the sales within the region and execution of territory plans.  The Regional Sales Manager candidate must have sales experience in IT Management sales within various markets.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following)

Education, Skills and Competencies

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or a B.A. with a minimum of 3-years work experience in a multi-tiered, technical selling environment, including but not limited to the selling of both software and hardware products or equivalent.
  • Must have experience with End User Sales into IT Management space and other vertical markets served by Lantronix
  • Knowledge of wired and wireless networking technology, 802.3, 801.11, and/or cellular is desired
  • Knowledge in M2M requirements and applications
  • Must be able to accurately reflect customer’s business and technical requirements for design win success
  • Very strong interpersonal and communication skills

Position Description

Working as part of the global Lantronix Marketing & Communications team, the Manager drives the marketing and communications strategy and crafts strategic external and internal content in support of our business. The focus of the role includes using a targeted communications strategy, strong messaging and digital platforms to create a culture of believers and evangelists internally to reinvigorate our business, and driving our positioning externally to drive sales and support our growth goals. This includes:

Strategic Planning

  • Develop the marketing & communications strategy to support the growth of the Lantronix business.
  • Work with the industry and geographic teams, and other related teams across our business, to ensure the plan is innovative, relevant and localized, and launch sales campaigns in those areas.
  • Manage the ongoing implementation of the plan, and refresh as required.
  • Manage annual budget and demonstrating the ability to show strong ROI on programs.
  • Create messaging, writing and shaping messages designed to raise perceptions of our products. Develop a visual identity to support the messaging, and continually evolve and refresh to stay current with emerging trends and Lantronix brand standards.
  • Drive internal and external marketing content and campaigns to evangelize our key audiences: Sales teams; customers and other external audiences, such as industry analysts.
  • Drive the development of market-relevant and differentiated thought leadership, developing new concepts and writing new content or shaping global content. Proactively identify hot topic areas for content, develop messaging and create content including thought leadership, POVs and research.
  • Package all content and thought leadership using the most effective and digitally-enabled channels, developing the launch plans, and managing the internal and external communications to support the launch and marketing activities.
  • Manage all industry analyst reports and submissions, including the structuring of messaging and content. Leading the development of the briefings, including structuring the messaging and content, preparing presentations, and coaching leadership to prepare for the briefings working with our industry analyst lead.
  • Work with sales leads to execute effective campaigns leveraging the content, for both internal and external audiences, and track effectiveness and ROI of the campaigns.
  • Write provocative, innovative and conversational content for website pages to support the thought leadership, new collateral and other areas.

Internal Communications

  • Lead internal communications and craft the development of a targeted plan, to include executive communications, including webcast appearances, videos, leadership announcements, employee and operational communications. Drive relevant programs and communications activities based on hot topics and creative relevant slices of content for the various areas of our business.
  • Oversee messaging on all channels to maintain precision, high quality and consistency.

Event Marketing

  • Possess strong executive presence and content management skills to drive our large, high profile events, teaming with our event program lead. Sharing insights and strategic thinking around leading events with a limited budget,
  • Balance strategic thinking and planning with the ability to “roll up your sleeves” and provide program execution across core content areas and asset development.

Social Media, Website, Digital Presence

  • Create and drive a robust social media program to ensure strong integration of digital marketing elements across all programs. Drive strong share of voice and to position our senior business leaders. Proactively seek new channels and innovative ways to share our stories to keep current of social trends.
  • Write content blogs, social posts and other content required for the social channels. Ensuring consistency and accuracy of Lantronix strategic marketing messages across various social channels and programs, and ensure Lantronix’s social media policies are adhered to.
  • Analyze results to gain insights, and improve our overall digital marketing program.
  • Manage website creative, content, and consistency with all messaging.

Sales Support and Relationship Management

  • Host Quarterly Business Reviews for Lantronix’s wider geographic and industry-led marketing community to share details on the Lantronix marketing efforts to support global and cross-industry campaigns and to understand local needs and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, related discipline, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing and communications, with experience in the technology industry, experience in technology content writing, and some experience working with alliances

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Preparation of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and Annual Report, including preparing or reviewing all disclosure schedules and reports for compliance with GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Preparation of other SEC filings such as the Proxy Statement and Section 16 reports (Forms 3, 4, 5) for the Reporting of Executive Officer and Director stock transactions
  • Involvement in, and oversight of various aspects of the Company’s month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliation preparation and review
  • Prepare analyses and take ownership for the Company’s various reserve accounts (E&O inventory, warranty, returns), along with various accrual, deferred revenue, tax and equity accounts
  • Coordinate with and serve as primary liaison with the Company’s external public accounting firm for the annual audit and quarterly reviews, including the preparation and review of schedules and other support
  • Research and preparation of technical accounting memoranda with respect to specific Company accounting matters, along with the implementation of new, pending and existing SEC regulations and FASB guidance
  • Assist with payroll function and related accounting
  • Assist with preparation of income tax provisions and annual income tax returns
  • Provide insight into and analyze the Company’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial results and build explanatory support for communication and interaction with executive team and other members of management

Education, Skills and Competencies

  • At least 3-5 years of combined public accounting and private industry experience preferred
