“Last Gasp” Feature

Some Point System configurations support a “Last Gasp” feature which transmits a SNMP Trap when the cabinet loses power for any reason.

In order for Last Gasp to be supported, the cabinet must contain the required emergency power supply, the Management Module must contain the required hardware, and the firmware running on the Management Module must contain Last Gasp support. The cpsmm100LastGasp MIB variable provides an indication of whether or not all three of these conditions are met.

If supported, Last Gasp requires no configuration other than that one or more appropriate values must be placed into the cpsmm100SNMPTrapMgrMIB variables. When power is lost, the Management Module will transmit pSPowerLost(116) traps until the emergency power supply runs out, which typically takes from one to five seconds.
