Nothing creates parched lips faster than dry, desert air – and that’s exactly what visitors to this year’s BICSI Fall Conference in Las Vegas experienced. Fortunately, attendees who stopped by our Transition Networks exhibit booth received a gift of moisturizing lip balm to save the day!
They also received the latest information about some of Transition Networks’ top media conversion products. Our booth staff found that the most popular attractions this year were the company’s Power over Ethernet (PoE), Fiber-to-the-Desk (FTTD), and physical security & surveillance solutions. We had both PoE and FTTD prominently displayed, along with many other products that people were invited to interact with.
Just prior to the show, we launched a new N-GXE-POE-xx-01 two-port fiber-to-the-desktop Gigabit PoE PCIe network interface card (NIC) for networks that need increased data security. This is a two-port NIC that provides a fiber-optic Gigabit Ethernet connection to a desktop PC, with a 10/100/1000 PoE port for connecting and powering a VoIP phone or other powered device. The PoE NIC pairs well with our ION Multi-Service Integration Platform, designed for network applications where multiple points of fiber integration and secure management are essential.
At this year’s show, I think our booth visitors related well to the PoE products and were able to tie them in to projects they are currently involved with. And while the FTTD product is more of a specialty application, everyone found it very interesting.
In fact, we had a lot of discussions about projects now under development. Many of our booth visitors were looking for immediate solutions to their fiber connectivity needs. This is a good sign for the cabling industry, because it means people are very busy, innovative solutions are being designed, and new concepts are being worked.
It always feels good to attend a BICSI show. Many of the people walking the show have used our products and are familiar with Transition Networks. These people come to our booth to say they love our equipment and they just want to know about the new products we are introducing.
But we also get to meet new industry participants. The key to our success is interacting with those who have previously installed our products, while also determining who is responsible for specifying our solutions into their new projects. We receive good feedback about our products from both groups.
