The SI-IES-540-LRT-PD is a PoE-powered splitter that also acts as a power sourcing device (PSE) for up to four additional PoE-powered devices (PDs). It is also ideal for optimizing IEEE 802.3bt switch ports in applications such as smart buildings, which require high power for PoE lighting but also include other lower-power devices such as sensors, shades, card readers, controllers, cameras and more. Connecting the splitter to one 60 or 90W switch port allows it to power up to four other devices, reducing the amount of cabling needed or utilizing existing cabling to add more devices in a specific location. This minimizes the overall cost while maximizing the ports and power budget of the PoE++ switch port to which it is connected. Although the splitter is an unmanaged device, power to the connected PDs can be remotely “reset” by briefly power cycling the connected switch port, saving time, increasing availability, and reducing truck rolls.
