Blog / RSS Tutorial
Please be aware that you don’t have to subscribe to the blog to read it, just browse to (or bookmark!) www.lantronix.com/blog <http://www.lantronix.com/blog>. If you would like to subscribe and be notified of new postings, the following information will be of interest.
To subscribe to a blog, you will need both an RSS Reader and the URL for the blog feed. Note that some browsers, such as Firefox, etc. will allow you to subscribe to the RSS feed and manage it within the browser itself. Other browsers may require a separate RSS Reader, so the behavior of the Subscribe link will differ from browser to browser. Older browsers, such as Internet Explorer 6, may not know how to handle the RSS/XML feed and will just display the raw code.
- Download a News Aggregator / RSS Reader (or use an RSS capable browser). A news aggregator or RSS reader is a software application that collects and displays news headlines and summaries from sources that you have designated. (Commonly used are Google Reader, FeedDemon, bloglines, Outlook 2007. Some browsers, such as Firefox, will also act as an RSS Reader/Manager)
- Install the feed reader or news aggregator on the computer (some RSS readers are accessible online and do not need to be downloaded).
- Locate the web address (URL) of the RSS feed (XML file) that you wish to subscribe. (e.g. feed://www.lantronix.com/blog/feed/ or http://www.lantronix.com/blog/feed/)
- Copy the URL and Open your RSS reader application (or if you are using an RSS capable browser, you can usually just click the link).
- Insert the url of the news feed and/or Click the “Add Feed” or “Subscribe to Feed” button.
- When you want to read the new content, return to your reader and view it there. Some browsers will allow you to show the Feed in a Bookmark menu/folder.
