Lantronix Out-of-Band Management Solutions: Safeguarding Business Continuity Through Remote Recovery

Lantronix Out-of-Band Management Solutions: Safeguarding Business Continuity Through Remote Recovery

Todd Rychecky: “When the Network Goes Down, We Get You Back Up — Without Leaving the Office”

On a customer trip in Korea, Todd Rychecky, General Manager of Lantronix’s out-of-band management (OOBM) business, participated in an interview with ZDNet Korea. Below  are some highlights. For the full article, see the ZDNet Korea website

When a system fails, every minute counts. That’s where Lantronix’s OOBM solutions come in — allowing network engineers to troubleshoot and restore operations remotely via a secure, dedicated management network.

“It’s all about protecting business continuity,” says Rychecky. “Our solutions let organizations resolve problems quickly without relying solely on the production network — which may be down — or having to send engineers onsite.”

The concept is simple but powerful. Just as losing an unsaved file can leave you wishing you’d backed it up, an unexpected network outage can grind operations to a halt. OOBM ensures organizations have that “backup path” to keep systems running.

A Veteran at the Helm

Rychecky took leadership of Lantronix’s OOBM division in April, bringing more than 25 years of technical sales and global market expansion experience. He began his OOB career at Perle, then Opengear as its first sales and marketing hire, building its channel network and sales team from scratch. Under his leadership, Opengear grew from five employees to 150 and was acquired by Digi International in 2019.

Following a stint at a reseller, Rychecky joined Lantronix to lead its OOBM business — with a mission to make it the industry’s best.

Korea: A Market Full of Potential

Visiting Korea as part of his global expansion efforts, Rychecky described his first impressions: “The people are amazing, the food is incredible, and the business environment is extremely dynamic. This feels like a land of opportunity.”

According to Rychecky, industries such as semiconductors, healthcare, government, and financial services are prime candidates for OOBM. “In these sectors, downtime isn’t just inconvenient — it’s costly. Our solutions help avoid that.”

He also sees growth in emerging segments like AI data centers and GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) providers, where high network stability is critical.

Looking Ahead

Lantronix plans to introduce new products in the coming year, focusing on enhanced network resilience and cloud integration. Current offerings include the LM80, LM83X, LM4, SLC8000, and EMG7500/8500. Upcoming products will include greater automation capabilities and 5G, aiming to deliver more power, flexible, and remote-management capabilities.

A Personal Mission

“My personal goal is to build the world’s best console server and OOBM platform,” Rychecky says. “We have an exceptional team — in software, hardware, and network engineering — working together to make that happen.”

As he prepared to leave for Japan on another leg of his trip, Rychecky said, “I’ll definitely be back. I want to meet more customers here and help Korean companies get the most value from OOBM.”
