Lantronix Continues Asia Pacific Growth with Hong Kong Office Expansion
New Regional Hub Boasts New Training and Solutions Showcase
Hong Kong, August 3, 2011 – Lantronix, Inc. (NASDAQ: LTRX), a leading global provider of smart connectivity solutions that enable cloud-based access to virtually any device, anywhere, anytime, today announced the expansion of its Asia Pacific operations hub in Hong Kong, as part of the company’s business strategy to increase its presence in key growth markets and better support its partners and customers in the region.
According to Roy Luk, Director, Asia Pacific Sales of Lantronix, Hong Kong has been home to Lantronix’s strategic sales operations hub in Asia Pacific for more than a decade. The move to larger premises in Kwun Tong’s Millennium City reaffirms the company’s commitment to Hong Kong as a preferred regional operation hub, and underlines its confidence in Asia Pacific’s Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market opportunities.
M2M refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same ability. According to a recent forecast by Beecham Research, Asia-Pacific M2M growth is expected to outstrip North American growth by over 25 percent over the next five years, with an expected CAGR of 26 percent.
“Until recently, M2M technologies have applied mainly to telematics and security industries but we are now seeing applications to handle cellular communications, smart grids, transportation and much more,” explains Luk. “This is driven by increasing bandwidth that has allowed M2M to redefine how we interact with and obtain information from machines. It is no surprise then that Asia Pacific, which has the highest level of broadband penetration in the world, is fast becoming a hotspot for M2M activity.”
To meet growing demand for M2M systems in the region, Lantronix has made available many easy to integrate, deploy and use technology platforms, including embedded and external device servers, console servers, KVM devices, software, and services. These enable users to remotely access, monitor and manage virtually any PC, laptop, server, machine, device, or electronic device easily and securely over the Internet.
The new office location allows Lantronix to immediately double its staff volume in line with growing demand for M2M technologies in the region, as well as a need for shorter response times and higher service quality standards from current M2M users. In addition, it will incorporate the “Lantronix Product Solution Centre”, a custom designed demonstration facility and training centre that will allow Lantronix to showcase its products and solutions on-site. This enables prospects and customers to quickly understand, evaluate and receive training in the wide variety of solutions offered by the company.
“We see a great deal of potential for M2M technologies in Asia Pacific as a result of both deep broadband penetration and rapid regional economic growth,” Luk continued. “The move to a new office is the first stage in our Asia Pacific expansion plan and we are now exploring the addition of a sales team in China to further grow our Hong Kong-China footprint. This expansion will allow us to follow up on opportunities throughout Asia Pacific.”
